WWE Backstage Viewership Nearly Doubles With CM Punk Appearance

Last week’s WWE Backstage show on FS1 drew 100,000 viewers. While this number was not overly impressive, it was over double what the show’s premiere on 11/05 brought in.

Last week’s show saw the WWE return of CM Punk. It was later revealed that Punk will be serving as a “special analyst” on the show, and will be periodically appearing.

Many people expected the viewership for the FS1 show to shoot right up for this week, especially considering it is the first time that the former WWE Champion has been advertised to appear on WWE TV in over five years.

Despite the advertised appearance from Punk, FOX will likely still be disappointed with the viewership numbers for last night’s WWE Backstage show.

According to ShowBuzz Daily, last night’s show brought in 180,000 viewers. This is triple what the show brought in on the first week (49,000) and drew significantly more than last week’s total.

However, I am sure many people would have expected more viewers to tune into last night’s show, especially considering CM Punk and WWE had been promoting the show heavily for the last week.

Stay tuned to WrestleTalk.com for the latest on WWE and FOX’s reactions to the viewership figure in the coming days.
