WWE has officially stated that members of the Board of Directors who recently resigned “did not agree” with Vince McMahon returning.
On January 6, using his power as majority owner, Vince McMahon put himself and former WWE presidents George Barrios and Michelle Wilson back on the company’s Board of Directors, disposing of JoEllen Lyons Dillon, Jeffrey R Speed, and Alan M Wexler in the process.
However, in addition to the three that were removed by McMahon, two more resigned of their own volition upon McMahon returning.
Those being Man Jit Singh – who was the one heading up the Board’s investigation into McMahon – and Ignace Lahoud.
In an SEC filing on January 11, WWE wrote:
While Messrs. Lahoud and Singh agreed with the Board’s decision to explore the Company’s strategic alternatives, they did not agree with Mr. McMahon’s return at this time
Of course Stephanie McMahon also resigned from WWE and her position on the Board on January 10, meaning WWE’s current list of Board of Directors is:
- Vince McMahon (Executive Chairman)
- Nick Khan (CEO)
- Paul Levesque (Chief Content Officer)
- George Barrios
- Steve Koonin
- Michelle McKenna
- Steve Pamon
- Michelle Wilson

McMahon had stated that his intention upon returning was to facilitate a sale of the company.
He changed bylaws to ensure that no sale or media rights deal could be completed without his approval.
There has been much speculation that Vince McMahon was looking to sell to a party that would commit to keeping him in charge of the company despite the multiple sexual assault allegations that have surfaced in the past year that led to his initial ‘retirement’ in July.
