WWE Star Opens Up About Botched Randy Orton Match Finish WWE

At WWE King & Queen of the Ring, GUNTHER defeated Randy Orton to become the 2024 King of the Ring in the Saudi Arabia final.

The match, which took place on May 25, saw criticism after it was noted that Orton’s shoulder was not down during the final three count.

Triple H would address the controversial finish after the show, acknowledging Orton’s shoulder not being on the mat but noting the “referee’s decision is final’.

GUNTHER has opened up about the botched finish during a conversation with Metro, saying:

“I was very good with it, because referee’s mistakes happens, and it happens in every sport. It’s part of it.

“It fuels the involvement in what we do, because it’s frustrating for the competitors.

“It’s frustrating for the fans, because they think they were about to see something else, or something else should have been the end of this match.

“And I think without, without that happening, the match [at Bash In Berlin] wouldn’t have happened and would not have meant that much.”

On August 31, 2024, WWE World Heavyweight Champion GUNTHER faced Orton at Bash in Berlin, with highlights from that match below this news story.

Reflecting on the match against Orton at WWE Bash in Berlin, GUNTHER went on to say:

“I have the utmost respect for Randy, ‘one of the greatest to ever do it.

“To be in the ring with him on an eye level, and, yeah, put a great professional wrestling match on in that setting, it was a special night.”

GUNTHER has recently reacted to the news that Ilja Dragunov is out for up to nine months with an injury picked up during their match over the weekend.
