There was a switch up in the backstage broadcast team on tonight’s episode of WWE SmackDown from Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
After the recent departure of Kayla Braxton, Raw’s Jackie Redmond was on backstage interviewer duty tonight, July 5. UPDATE – Cathy Kelley, also usually on Raw, appeared on SmackDown tonight as well.
Prior to Braxton’s exit from WWE one week ago, the traditional interview teams were Redmond and Cathy Kelley for Raw, and Braxton and Byron Saxton for SmackDown.
There have, however, been a few occasions where they’ll occasionally appear on the opposite show.
It’s unknown for sure at this moment if this is one of those times, or if it’s a permanent change for Redmond, replacing the now-absent Braxton on the blue brand, as no official announcement has been made.
Amongst other clips on social media, Jackie has already spoken to Bayley backstage on-screen at SmackDown although they were interrupted by Chelsea Green.
With Green vowing to become ‘Cha-Ching Chelsea’ and capture the Money in the Bank briefcase, Piper Niven flew in from behind to assault Bayley.
Chelsea let Bayley know that her plan was to win the ladder match and cash in on her.
Chelsea Green will have to beat Tiffany Stratton, Naomi, Lyra Valkyria, Zoey Stark and IYO SKY in order to obtain her goal of grabbing the Money in the Bank briefcase before anyone else.
Elsewhere, to kick off tonight’s SmackDown, all of the men in the Money in the Bank ladder match featured in an in-ring segment.
It ended in a brawl after Drew McIntyre joined LA Knight, Carmelo Hayes, Jey Uso, Chad Gable and Andrade in the ring and his insults instigated violence.
