An AEW name has revealed that “nobody” expected a WWE Hall of Famer to be the successful championship material.
Jake Roberts made the revelation on The Snake Pit podcast, saying of Bret Hart:
“I just didn’t think he was championship material, you know, with what Vince usually wanted in champions, carrying the belt, he didn’t have the look.”
Roberts would take a deeper dive into his opinion, adding:
“He didn’t have the size, you know? He didn’t have any of it. He’s a great wrestler, but there are a lot of f*cking great wrestlers out there.”
The WWE Hall of Famer would also say that “nobody” could have predicted the success of The Hitman and also that he wasn’t overly enamored by Hart’s promo skills either.
In his time in WWE, Bret Hart was a five-time WWF Champion, held the Intercontinental Championship twice, the United States Champion and was a two-time WWF Tag Team Champion with Jim ‘The Anvil’ Neidhart.
