WWE Champion Drew McIntyre Challenges Tyson Fury

WWE Champion Drew McIntyre Challenges Tyson Fury

Drew McIntyre, who became the first ever British WWE Champion by defeating Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania, has made a challenge to boxing star Tyson Fury.

Speaking with talkSPORT, McIntyre mentioned that Fury had trash talked him previously, so now it was his turn to return the favour, essentially telling Fury that he’s ready to fight.

McIntyre said:

“I know Tyson Fury is on the show today, as well. I need to bring up Fury because he was talking trash about me, so I know he’s coming on the show. Tell him ‘I saw what you said about me.’ He didn’t care who won the match [between Lesnar and I], he thought I was going to win and thinks he can smash me. Just let him know ‘Fury I’ve won the championship, now I’m paying attention to you’. After I beat [Chris] Sutton, I’m coming for Fury.”

Fury did join the same talkSPORT show later on, and actually revealed he was originally supposed to be at WrestleMania, but obviously the coronavirus pandemic prevented that from happening.

He did, however, return verbal fire at the Scot. He said:

“I probably would have jumped in the ring and set about both of them. But you know I’m all open for the challenge. I beat one giant wrestler who’s bigger than Drew, Braun Strowman, knocked him clean out, I’m sure I’d do the same to our old Drew. But I’m over ecstatic for him because it’s the first ever time in history that a British fighter has won the WWE Championship.”

Could Fury, who has he himself mentioned defeated new Universal Champion Braun Strowman by countout back in October, be stepping into the ring with McIntyre with the WWE Title on the line some point soon?
