Current Undisputed WWE Champion John Cena has issued a response to R-Truth calling Cena his “childhood hero.”
The next match of John Cena’s retirement tour will see him face Truth in a match at WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event on May 24.
The match came about after Truth actually helped Cena retain his championship against Randy Orton at Backlash.
In the post-show press conference, seemingly fed up of Truth’s antics, Cena gave Truth an Attitude Adjustment through a table.
However, even after that, Truth, 53, has maintained that Cena, 48, is his childhood hero, and he will use some of Cena’s own teachings like “never give up” and “hustle, loyalty and respect” in their match.
Cena attended this weekend’s Philadelphia Fan Expo and was asked about Truth, and responded:
“How in the space-time continuum can I be R-Truth’s childhood hero when he’s 150 years old? It doesn’t make any sense.”
Truth saw Cena’s comment and responded on social media with a ‘cap’ emoji, implying Cena is lying.
The Saturday Night’s Main Event match seems to be non-title – WWE hasn’t outright said it’s non-title, but the fact it’s not being advertised as for the title suggests it won’t be on the line.
