Here’s what happened when a current WWE star challenged for a singles championship in another promotion.

Natalya has taken to the independent scene to reinvent herself, notably scoring a victory over Miyu Yamashita at GCW Josh Barnett’s Bloodsport XIII during WrestleMania 41 weekend.

The Queen of Harts wrestled outside WWE again on Saturday, May 17, challenging for Kenzie Paige’s NWA Women’s World Championship.

The WWE star used the appearance to firmly establish her non-WWE presentation, entering to her WWE/Rage Against The Machine mashup theme, which you can hear in the video below.

Natalya – who appeared as “Nattie Neidhart” – was ultimately unsuccessful, coming up short against Kenzie Paige.

Paige’s victory confirms the continuation of her title reign which has lasted for well over 600 days, following her championship victory at the NWA 75th Anniversary Show in August 2023.

Gail Kim was originally set to be the special guest referee for this bout, but announced on the day that she wouldn’t be able to make the show due to illness.

Footage has now also emerged showing Natalya getting physical with someone in the crowd in what appeared to be a planned spot, which you can also watch below.

This match is expected to air on an upcoming episode of NWA Powerrr. We will provide updates on its airdate as they become available.

Natalya last wrestled in WWE on the April 11 SmackDown episode, competing in the Women’s Tag Team Championship #1 contender’s match.
