The date for John Cena vs Randy Orton in an Undisputed WWE Championship match has officially been announced.
At WrestleMania 41 this past weekend, John Cena won the WWE Title from Cody Rhodes, breaking the record and becoming a 17-time world champion.
On the Raw after WrestleMania on Monday, as he was ‘celebrating’ in the ring, Cena was attacked by RKO who surprised him with an RKO from behind.
Then, on tonight’s SmackDown, Cena and Orton came face-to-face after Orton interrupted Cena once again.
This time, they exchanged words, with Orton even admitting that this was a “weird bizarro world where I’m the good guy and you’re the bad guy.”
Orton recommended that Cena should finally “grow up” and have children to fill the void in his heart.
Cena’s retort was that he’s been raising kids all over the world for the last 25 years, and doing a better job of it than their actual parents.
Cena also reiterated that he wants to retire with the current WWE Championship and take it home with him, which would mean Orton would be forever frozen at 14 world title reigns and he’d never be able to catch Cena’s record of 17.
Orton then challenged Cena to a match for the championship “right here, right now”, but Cena rejected and said it was for Orton’s own benefit.
Cena instead accepted the match, but said it will be at the WWE Backlash PLE on May 10, which takes place in Orton’s hometown of St Louis.
