Hold your breath, cross your fingers, and pray to whatever deity you may believe in because the AJ Styles injury we all thought was a work might actually be legitimate after all.
Following an attack by Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn at the Madison Square Garden live event Friday evening, the referee held up the ‘X’ sign to signal an injury and the WWE Champion was helped backstage courtesy of two officials. Minutes later, he reappeared to aid Shinsuke Nakamura making many believe the grievance was a work of fiction.

Fast forward 24 hours to the Smackdown Live house show in Odessa, Texas and despite being heavily advertised, AJ Styles was pulled from the card without warning, fuelling speculation that the damage he sustained in New York is actually genuine. Unless this is one big ruse to keep kayfabe alive by WWE, one cannot help but agree that something is awry if the company is willing to pull the champion from an advertised appearance without explanation.
Details about Styles’ condition are nonexistent at the moment, but with WrestleMania 34 right around the corner and the WWE Championship match with Shinsuke Nakamura in jeopardy, WWE would be wise to keep him away from physical competition until April 8.
We will have more on this story as it breaks.
