Will Extreme Rules be the most memorable Rusev Day ever? Well, if last night’s SmackDown Live is anything to go by, it very well could be. The main event of last night’s program was a (first time ever, historic *TM*) Five-Man Gauntlet match. The bout featured: Daniel Bryan, Big E, Samoa Joe, The Miz, and Rusev, with winner earning a WWE Championship match at Extreme Rules.
After Daniel Bryan outlasted Big E, and outsmarted Samoa Joe, he was attacked by the Bludgeon Brothers (it made sense in context). This allowed The Miz to pick the bones and eliminate Bryan. Then, the final entrant came through the curtain: Rusev. A 10-minute finale to the gauntlet match then began. Miz attempted to hit Daniel Bryan’s running knee on ‘The Bulgarian Brute,’ but the latter countered into a Machka Kick and an Accolade for the win.
Yes, Rusev will challenge AJ Styles for the WWE Championship at Extreme Rules! And it falls on Rusev Day! What are the odds?
