It appears a championship in WWE may have been effectively written off television during WrestleMania weekend.
Before WrestleMania 41 today, WWE NXT Stand & Deliver took place in the afternoon.
As a special Las Vegas cameo appearance, magicians Penn & Teller were part of a backstage segment with Lexis King.
King was carrying around his NXT Heritage Cup trophy, when he gave it to Penn who placed it in a cage.
Penn then covered the cage with a sheet, and when the sheet was removed, the trophy had been replaced by Teller, who was wearing a Jey Uso shirt and yeeting.
So, they essentially made King’s cup disappear.
This may have been more than a one-off gag, as the Heritage Cup has become pretty redundant over the past couple of months, with King defending it in regular matches instead of Heritage Cup Rules matches as of late.
Therefore, this might have been the way NXT decided to completely drop the title and remove it from TV entirely going forward.
Later in the show, King was shown backstage still looking for it, so as far as we know, he still hasn’t found it.
We’ll keep you posted with any further updates.
