WWE NXT General Manager Ava has announced a tournament to determine the new number one contender for El Grande Americano’s WWE Speed Championship.
It has been four months since El Grande Americano last defended the Men’s WWE Speed Championship, with the title yet to show up on WWE NXT since WWE Speed got moved from a Twitter exclusive show to a part of the NXT brand.
With Sol Ruca already actively defending her Women’s Speed Title on the brand, NXT General Manager Ava has now confirmed plans to determine the next challenger for the Men’s Speed Championship, with a tournament beginning next week.
As announced during tonight’s episode of NXT, four stars from four different shows will compete in the tournament as SmackDown’s Axiom takes on Evolve’s Sean Legacy and TNA’s Zachary Wentz faces off with Jasper Troy.
It has not yet been confirmed when the winner of the tournament will get their title shot against El Grande Americano.
Americano won the title back in May when Chad Gable was the one behind the mask, with the current Americano, Ludwig Kaiser, yet to be seen with the Speed Title since taking over the role.
The previous men’s WWE Speed Champions have been Ricochet, Andrade and Dragon Lee.
