WrestleMania 42 WWE Championship Plans Update WWE

An update has emerged on plans for the WWE Championship match at WrestleMania 42, following Cody Rhodes’ title win.

With Cody Rhodes defeating Drew McIntyre for the WWE Championship on the March 6 edition of SmackDown, the American Nightmare is slated to defend his gold against Elimination Chamber winner Randy Orton at the Show of Shows.

While this bout has been confirmed, there has been some speculation about more stars being added to this title match, following previous reports that both Drew McIntyre and Jacob Fatu had been discussed for the WrestleMania WWE Championship match.

This doesn’t seem to be the case, however, with Dave Meltzer reporting in the latest Wrestling Observer Daily Update that as of writing, Cody Rhodes vs Randy Orton is the scheduled match, not a three-way or a four-way.

This WWE Championship match appears to be set for the April 18 WrestleMania show, with the match graphic included on the WrestleMania Saturday page on WWE’s website.

A graphic for the other world title match, CM Punk vs Roman Reigns for the World Heavyweight Championship, appears on the WrestleMania Sunday page.
