As you will have seen if you watched last week’s episode of SmackDown, the former WALTER turned Gunther made his Friday night debut, squashing Joe Alonzo in a dominant display.
You will also have seen that Gunther was backed up by Marcel Barthel, who is now going by Ludwig Klaus on the main roster.
Interestingly, it appears there may have been a change of plans regarding Gunther’s debut and the role Ludwig was going to play. Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer said:
“It’s interesting that they are going with them as a tag team and not Gunther as a single, which surprises me greatly, especially because the original plan was separate brands.”

So plans must have changed if the original plan was for Gunther to be on SmackDown and Klaus to be on another brand, which you would assume is Raw.
It isn’t clear whether this was a one off appearance for Ludwig Klaus, whether he’s just acting as Gunther’s back-up, or if they’re actually a tag team, but we’ll bring you any further information when it becomes available.
Speaking of Gunther and Ludwig Klaus, here is every WWE name change of 2022.
