WWE Changing Doudrop’s Name Back To Piper Niven?

WWE Changing Doudrop’s Name Back To Piper Niven?

It seems WWE could potentially be changing Raw star Doudrop’s name back to Piper Niven, the name she previously used in NXT UK.

When she was first moved from NXT UK to Raw a few months ago, Niven didn’t even have a name for a few weeks, until it was decided she’d be called Doudrop.

The idea was that she’d been given a silly name by Eva Marie, who was a heel and was essentially using Doudrop, with the goal being that Doudrop would turn on Marie and emerge as a babyface.

That did happen, but in recent weeks, Doudrop has turned heel, specifically targetting one of the top babyfaces in WWE’s entire women’s division, Bianca Belair.

With Marie no longer with the company and the more heel side we’re seeing to Doudrop now, it would make sense to revert back to a name that, well, isn’t Doudrop.

And on December 6, WWE filed to trademark ‘Piper Niven’ with the United States Patent & Trademark Office, with the following description:

Entertainment services, namely, wrestling exhibitions and performances by a professional wrestler and entertainer rendered live and through broadcast media including television and radio, and via the internet or commercial online service; providing wrestling news and information via a global computer network; providing information in the fields of sports and entertainment via an online community portal; providing a website in the field of sports entertainment information; fan club services, namely, organizing sporting events in the field of wrestling for wrestling fan club members; organizing social entertainment events for entertainment purposes for wrestling fan club members; providing online newsletters in the fields of sports entertainment; online journals, namely blogs, in the field of sports entertainment

This isn’t necessarily confirmation of a planned reverse name change, and WWE may have decided to trademark it for another reason, but if you put the signs together, it seems like it would make sense.

WWE also filed to trademark Ivy Nile and Odyssey Jones (NXT 2.0 stars) on the same day with the same descriptions.
