WWE SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis has revealed the character direction that WWE CCO Triple H has given him.
In October 2023, former TNA and NWA Worlds Heavyweight Champion Nick Aldis made his WWE debut as the new SmackDown General Manager.
Since then, Aldis has become a regularly featured act on the SmackDown brand and gotten into several angles with the likes of Roman Reigns, Cody Rhodes, AJ Styles and Randy Orton.
Speaking on Insight with Chris Van Vliet, Nick Aldis revealed the direction Triple H gave him for his role as General Manager of WWE SmackDown. He said:
“My whole thing on this was, I had to make it my own. And this was also based on some early conversations with (Triple H) about it, where it was like, he said, ‘I want this to be different. Your General Manager shtick is not gonna be the typical authority figure we’ve seen in the past’.
“And obviously there’s been some major differences between some of the characters we’ve seen in those roles, but it wasn’t necessarily gonna be this insecure, power-hungry guy right off the bat.
“He said, ‘I want you to be more you. Like more calm and collected and all business’. And I went, ‘I think I know what you want’.
“Obviously there’s a lot of coaching involved and stuff like that, but in the beginning, I was like, ‘I think I’ve got what you have in mind’, and we sort of went that way, and it seemed to work.”
