A match featuring Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes that was reportedly planned for Clash at the Castle could be delayed.
Three matches have been announced for the upcoming show, with Damian Priest defending the World Heavyweight Championship against Drew McIntyre, Piper Niven facing Bayley for her WWE Women’s Championship and Sami Zayn taking on Chad Gable who hopes to become WWE Intercontinental Champion.
The Undisputed WWE Championship match had not yet been announced but was expected to see Cody Rhodes defend against AJ Styles.
Dave Meltzer has now provided an update on plans for the match in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, stating:
As of early in the week, the plan was for this match to be on 6/15, and likely to be announced on 6/7. But it also could be held off until Toronto.
‘Toronto’ would be the host city of WWE Money in the Bank which takes place on July 6 at the Scotiabank Arena.
Tonight’s episode of WWE SmackDown is in Louisville, Kentucky, with more matches expected to be announced for Clash at the Castle.
The June 14 episode of WWE SmackDown will emanate from the OVO Hydro which is the home of Clash at the Castle on the following evening.
