There has been a tease that WWE is bringing back a classic title belt design, ahead of WrestleMania 39.
One competitor who has already punched their ticket for the April 1-2 show is Cody Rhodes, who won the 2023 Royal Rumble match.
Rhodes’ Rumble victory earned the American Nightmare a championship title shot at the upcoming Show of Shows.
The former AEW EVP previously stated that it was his goal to win the WWE Championship and dedicate his victory to his late father, Dusty Rhodes.
Cody has now shared a photo of the classic ‘winged eagle’ WWE Title design, hinting that it could make a comeback.
In May 2022, the popular star confirmed on WWE After The Bell that he wants to bring the hardware back, noting:
“I did do that once with the Intercontinental title, it took a lot of work but it was the right call once we got there.
“I think there’s a particular design of the WWE Championship that people are very fond of.
“I’d say hypothetically it really would be something to achieve the ultimate industry dream, being the best of the best ever in terms of that moment in time, and then perhaps give it a fresh coat of paint with the winged eagle (title).
“That would just be something, that’s all I can really say.”
Now that Cody Rhodes has a shot at WWE’s top title, the return of this classic title is a real possibility.
AEW EVPs Matt & Nick Jackson of the Young Bucks have now reacted to Cody Rhodes Elite shout-out at Royal Rumble.
