A former WWE star has praised CM Punk as a “genius” for professional wrestling, but doubts whether he would become a producer in the company.
Jimmy Wang Yang, real name James Yun, had a couple of separate stints with WWE, the most notable being from 2006 to 2010, where his time there matched up with CM Punk’s arrival and rise up the company.
Speaking with the Two Man Power Trip of Wrestling, Yun discussed Punk’s aptitude for taking on a backstage role such as producer – saying Punk has the mind for it, but acknowledging that Punk wouldn’t “take the s**t” that producers often have to take backstage.
He said:
“Punk is awesome. I love Punk. His mindset for the business and the stories and angles that he has in his head are genius. He’s a genius for professional wrestling.
“He definitely could (be a producer), but I know he wouldn’t take the s**t that producers have to take, so I don’t know.
“It might be different now with the new ownership, but Punk’s not gonna take as much poo-poo as others, so.”
