WWE’s CM Punk Shares Honest Thoughts On UFC Run UFC

World Heavyweight Champion CM Punk has shared his honest thoughts about his career in UFC following his WWE departure back in 2014.

Following CM Punk and WWE parting ways, the former WWE Champion signed with UFC in December 2014.

He fought twice for the MMA promotion, first losing to Mickey Gall via a round one submission in September 2016, and facing Mike Jackson in June 2018 in what originally was a unanimous decision victory for Jackson, but later got overturned to a no-contest.

Speaking to Chef Donny, CM Punk reflected on his MMA run. Wishing he started sooner, he explained:

“I mean, big learning curve, it’s just something I wanted to do because I love MMA so much. I got offered an opportunity and I said yes. That’s kind of how I live my life.

“I wish I started sooner. That’s the only thing, I started so late, I was already old. It was just kind of like a bucket list thing, but it doesn’t mean I didn’t take it seriously.

“I trained my ass off, got in shape, did what I could, but yeah, I started way too late, it’s a young man’s game.”

At the time of signing with UFC, Punk would have been 36 years old, with his debut not taking place until September of 2016, partially due to an injury he had suffered, with his first opponent being close to his mid-twenties at the time.

Now a two-time WWE World Heavyweight Champion, it was recently reported that CM Punk is set to appear at Saturday Night’s Main Event on December 13, a show which will feature the last match in John Cena’s in-ring career.
