A former WWE star has praised Cody Rhodes, looking back on their respective careers and shared frustrations.
In 2016, Cody Rhodes departed WWE after performing as Stardust towards the end of that run, with creative frustrations being a contributing factor.
The same year saw Damien Sandow also parted ways with WWE, having been released from his contract in May.
In a recent appearance on TMZ Inside the Ring, the former Damien Sandow, Aron Stevens reflected on the frustrations that he and Rhodes experienced, praising the former WWE Champion for his perseverance, saying:
“Cody is a friend of mine. We rode together, and yeah, we were both frustrated at points in our career. We were both in different places.
“Cody is a testament to talent and perseverance; everything he gets, he deserves, I firmly believe that.
“I’m just really happy to see him kind of attain the level that he wanted, and I know his dad would be too.”

Cody Rhodes’ departure from WWE would see him head to the international independent scene, including a run in NJPW and membership of Bullet Club, before he would found AEW in late 2018.
His departure from AEW in 2022 would see a return to WWE later that year, where he would go on to become a two-time WWE Champion.
Sandow would adopt the name Aron Stevens as he also pursued a career on the independent circuit, and continues to perform under that name with the NWA, where he serves as an agent and manager of Blunt Force Trauma (Rodney Mack & Marshe Rockett).
