WWE Champion Cody Rhodes has been confirmed for the cast of an upcoming major movie based on a popular video game franchise.
Recently, it was reported that the Undisputed WWE Champion was in talks to star alongside Roman Reigns in a new Street Fighter movie.
With Reigns having been confirmed as portraying Akuma in the Kitao Sakurai-directed project, Rhodes’ role has now also been confirmed.
Cody Rhodes will be playing Guile, with the news broken by Deadline. The movie set for a 2026 release date.
Guile is a US Air Force pilot who wants to avenge the death of his friend at the hands of M Bison, the major villain of the piece and portrayed by David Dastmalchian.
The last live-action adaptation of Street Fighter saw Jean-Claude Van Damme as Guile with Raul Julia as Bison in the 1994 movie.
This isn’t the only movie project to feature the current Undisputed WWE Champion, with Rhodes starring alongside Liam Neeson in The Naked Gun.
David Dastmalchian will be familiar to fans of comic book movies and John Cena, having starred alongside the Peacemaker actor in The Suicide Squad.
The new version of Street Fighter will see Noah Centineo (Atom Smasher from The Rock vehicle Black Adam) as Ken and Andrew Koji as Ryu.
Rounding out the cast to date is Jason Mamoa as Blanka, Callina Liang as Chun-Li, Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson as Balrog, Orville Peck as Vega, and Andrew Schul as Dan Hibiki.
Street Fighter will be co-developed and co-produced with Capcom and released through Legendary and Sony.
