Cody Rhodes has been revealed as one of the “unnamed AEW talents” who was interested in bringing a WWE Raw star to AEW in 2021.
With a match taking place on the February 27 episode of WWE Raw, WRKD Wrestling has revealed that Cody Rhodes was already high on the prospect of Chad Gable before the American Nightmare returned to WWE.
WRKD Wrestling revealed the information on their Twitter account, writing:
“Cody Rhodes wants Chad Gable to have a “big showing” during their Raw match tonight, as Rhodes has been a fan of him and was one of the unnamed AEW talents hoping to eventually bring Gable to the company, as reported by Meltzer in 2021.”
Dave Meltzer has spoken on this subject previously on Wrestling Observer Radio, but doubted that it would have happened.
Meltzer would also previously report that “friends” of Chad Gable wanted to see him move to AEW, with Meltzer suggesting Gable was “so misused or buried.”
Following Triple H taking over WWE creative, Gable had himself noted that he “feels useful” and described Triple H’s confidence in him as “rewarding”.
