WWE announced yesterday (March 7) that AJ Styles had suffered a “severe neck contusion” as a result of the brutal attack from Edge on last week’s episode of Raw.
According to Google, a neck contusion takes about four to six weeks to recover from, which is lucky, because WrestleMania 38 is 5 weeks after he suffered the injury.
This was the medical update from Fox Sports:
“Following Edge’s vicious assault on last week’s Raw, and as a result of consecutive Con-Chair-Tos, it has been determined that AJ Styles has suffered a severe neck contusion. At this time, it is unclear how the injury will affect The Phenomenal One on his Road to WrestleMania, where he is slated to battle The Rated-R Superstar.”
Despite this, WWE has now confirmed the match between AJ Styles and Edge will be going ahead at WrestleMania, and that it will be on of the highlights of night two, or as they’re calling it, WrestleMania Sunday.
So they must be pretty sure AJ Styles is going to be just fine, despite his head being squashed by a chair.
As far as we know, the Styles injury is a kayfabe injury to keep him off TV so Edge can build the match on his own on Raw.
