It was reported earlier today that NXT star Austin Theory had announced that Johnny Gargano would not be on NXT TakeOver Vengeance Day. Gargano had been scheduled to defend the NXT North American Championship against Kushida.
Now, WWE has confirmed that Gargano will not be on the show. On their website, they said that Gargano is out of action and posed the question of what the future will be of the North American Championship. Here is the preview for Austin Theory’s match with Kushida on tonight’s episode of NXT:
“On Tuesday night, Austin Theory tweeted that that Johnny Gargano will be unable to compete against him at NXT Takeover: Vengeance Day and that was all the fault of Kushida.
As a result, Austin has challenged Kushida to a match tonight. With Gargano out of action, what will this mean for NXT Takeover and the future of the North American Championship?”
Gargano had won the title from Leon Ruff at NXT TakeOver WarGames 2020. The match was a Triple Threat match and also featured Damian Priest.
We will be doing live coverage of NXT tonight and will provide any updates on the status of Johnny Gargano.
