WWE Confirms Name Change With New Merch

Io Shirai will now be known upon her return to WWE as IYO SKY as was announced on her re-debut on tonight’s (July 30) WWE SummerSlam.

IYO SKY featured in a big angle after the opening match which saw Bianca Belair retain her WWE Raw Women’s Championship only to be greeted by a new powerful trio comprised of SKY, Dakota Kai and Bayley.

After the angle, new merchandise was announced for all three stars as IYO SKY’s was notable for confirming not only her name change but also the moniker’s correct spelling in all caps.

Reportedly, Vince McMahon had been pitched the idea for a stable, “quite some time ago” before Dakota Kai was released that he rejected.

WWE SummerSlam was a jam packed affair featuring Bianca Belair vs. Becky Lynch for the WWE Raw Women’s Championship, controversy in the ending to Liv Morgan vs. Ronda Rousey for the WWE SmackDown Women’s Championship and a massive barnburner between Brock Lesnar and Roman Reigns.
