Mercedes Varnado, known as Sasha Banks in WWE, has been a free agent since January 1, 2023.
Sasha and WWE agreed to end their contract last summer after her and Naomi walked out on the May 16, 2022 episode of Raw.
Sasha, now using the name Mercedes Mone, made her NJPW debut at Wrestle Kingdom 17 yesterday, seemingly confirming that she was out of the company.
NJPW added Mercedes to their official roster page on their website following Wrestle Kingdom, but she was at the time still listed on WWE’s roster page.
Now, WWE has officially confirmed that Sasha is no longer with the company, quietly moving her over to the alumni section of the roster.
As of now, Naomi is still listed as a part of the WWE roster, seemingly confirming that she is still under contract with WWE.
There have been conflicting reports about Mercedes’ AEW status, and whether she will be Saraya’s tag team partner on next week’s AEW Dynamite show.
Mercedes’ first match in NJPW will take place on February 18, when she challenges KAIRI for the IWGP Women’s Championship at NJPW Battle in the Valley in San Jose.
