WWE stars Naomi and Bayley have now reacted to the double pin confusion on SmackDown, sharing an interesting online exchange.
The former women’s champions teamed up in a high-stakes match on Friday’s (September 20) show, facing off against Tiffany Stratton and WWE Women’s Champion Nia Jax in a Tornado Tag match.
Naomi and Bayley had a lot riding on the bout, as if either of them were pinned, they’d be forced to leave SmackDown. On the flip side, if either of them scored the winning pinfall, they would have earned a championship match against Nia Jax at Bad Blood.
While Bayley and Naomi were victorious, Jax’ Bad Blood challenger wasn’t determined, as both stars pinned the WWE Women’s Champion.
With both women involved in the winning pinfall, the duo will face off on next week’s show, with the winner earning the wagered title shot.
Naomi took to Twitter after the bout to state that she has no hard feelings towards the Role Model, writing:
Love you @itsBayleyWWE regardless 😔 #SmackDown
Curious about Naomi’s post, Bayley replied:
Regardless of what..?
It has been heavily speculated that Naomi will eventually turn heel and betray Bayley, following tensions which have been brewing for months.
Bayley notably pinned Naomi to retain her WWE Women’s Championship in a three-way bout also featuring Tiffany Stratton at WWE Backlash in May.
The Role Model dropped the gold to Nia Jax at SummerSlam, following Stratton’s interference.
