It has been known for a while that Vince McMahon does not want SummerSlam to be held at the Performance Center. While it has appeared that is the most likely scenario, now there is talk of holding the show elsewhere.
Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful tweeted today that there is talk within WWE of holding the event outdoors. He also compared the idea to UFC getting press over their Fight Island idea.
WWE could possibly run outdoor locations for Summerslam, according to some of the murmurs within the company. They should. UFC got a lot of buzz for a Fight Island that looked exactly like the rest of their shows. WWE could do something different

“WWE could possibly run outdoor locations for SummerSlam, according to some of the murmurs within the company. They should. UFC got a lot of buzz for a Fight Island that looked exactly like the rest of their shows. WWE could do something different.”
Bryan Alvarez was asked on Wrestling Observer Live today if he thought the show would take place on a cruise, another rumour that has been circling today. He stated he doesn’t think that will happen but noted that McMahon wants something different for SummerSlam.
The only outdoor events WWE has held in recent years have been WrestleManias or Axxess shows. SummerSlam was originally scheduled to be held in Boston but it was announced just recently that would not be the case.
