WWE considers the “door is open” for released NXT UK stars to return to the company.
On August 18, WWE announced that they are launching the NXT Europe brand and putting the NXT UK brand on hiatus for a few months.
Following the announcement, the company released numerous NXT UK talent, which you can see the full list here.
According to PWInsider, the “door is open” for some of the released stars to be brought back down the line.
However, it didn’t make sense to keep everyone under contract with the long hiatus ahead until the relaunch of NXT Europe.
Most of the talents released have a 30-45 day window before they can go work elsewhere beyond local independent promotions.
As previously mentioned, the backstage reaction to the end of NXT UK has been revealed in the same report.
Several of the released names came as a surprise to people, including Amale, who was the only French star signed to the company, leading to speculation that WWE may not actually be planning on repurposing the show as NXT Europe.
If you’re in the UK but didn’t manage to get tickets to Clash at the Castle on September 3, WrestleTalk is hosting a watch party at The Joiner on Worship in Shoreditch, London, and we’d love for you to join us! Click here for more details.
