An update has emerged on Kevin Owens’ WWE status, with Owens’ current WWE contract set to expire soon.
Owens noted in May that he wasn’t taking anything for granted as his WWE contract was set to expire in “early in 2025”.
With Owens being part of major WWE storylines since then, there has been some speculation about the possibility of Owens signing a contract extension with the company.
A new update on the situation has revealed that this hasn’t happened yet, with Owens now telling Sports Illustrated’s The Takedown that the only change in his contract status since then is that there’s now less time on his deal.
Owens also commented on his experience under the Triple H regime, noting:
“There’s been a shift over the last few years. Who we are as performers and characters, there’s a lot of our input and a lot of us that goes into it. It’s very beneficial for the show, I think. It’s beneficial for us as performers, because I think everybody will perform best if they’re able to be themselves as much as possible.”
“What has helped me bring that forward to the screen is definitely Triple H (taking over as Chief Content Officer), because he was kind of that way too. We have a very similar sense of humor.
“So it was, I don’t know, it was a couple years ago when we were talking about how we were gonna do a certain thing on the show. And I went, and I was half joking, ‘Can I just point out how ridiculous this is?’ And he goes, ‘Yeah, why not?’ And then it just became a thing.”
Owens will challenge for Cody Rhodes’ Undisputed WWE Championship at Saturday’s (August 31) Bash In Berlin premium live event.
A dream rematch which many fans were calling for to take place at Bash In Berlin actually happened at the most recent WWE live event.
