It was reported yesterday (March 3) that the talks between Cody Rhodes and WWE had ‘fizzled out’, with AEW hoping to bring him back into the fold eventually.
However, it appears as though WWE are still hoping to bring Cody on board, as Dave Meltzer noted in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the creative in the company is working on stuff for Cody ‘at this very moment’.
Referencing Cody and Brandi’s public reaction to AEW’s recent show announcements, Meltzer wrote:
“Cody and Brandi both plugging the show on social media also in theory would tell you that neither at this moment are under contract with WWE because WWE would never allow a contracted performer to promote a show from another promotion. Whether officially signed, the reality is at this very moment creative in WWE working on stuff for him and unless it falls through it would be soon”
The Cody situation has been ‘eerily silent’ since he officially departed All Elite Wrestling last month.
