An update has emerged on the situation surrounding the WWE Crown Jewel championships, with the next Crown Jewel event not taking place in Saudi Arabia.
Crown Jewel 2024 saw WWE crown the first ever men’s and women’s Crown Jewel Champions, with it announced that these titles will be kept in Saudi Arabia all year round, and a new champion determined each year when the world champions face off against one another.
A spanner was thrown in the works by the announcement of the literal next Crown Jewel event, with Crown Jewel 2025 set to emanate from Perth, Australia.
Because of the event taking place in a completely different country, there has been some speculation about what happens with the two titles this year.
Per Dave Meltzer in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, it is believed that Crown Jewel Championship matches will take place at the October 11, 2025 event.
Meltzer wrote:
“On the Crown Jewel PPV on 10/11, they will have the annual Crown Jewel title matches previously scheduled as an annual thing in Saudi Arabia.
“Because Saudi Arabia is getting the Royal Rumble in January, they aren’t getting a PPV later in the year.
“So the WWE men’s and women’s champions will face the world champions just like last year.
“The belief is these matches will go back to being a regular thing in Saudi Arabia in 2026 while the Survivor Series will have men and women’s WarGames matches.”
Cody Rhodes became the inaugural men’s Crown Jewel Champion, defeating then-World Heavyweight Champion GUNTHER while he was the WWE Champion.
Liv Morgan – who was Women’s World Champion at the time – defeated then-WWE Women’s Champion Nia Jax to become the first female Crown Jewel Champion.
