At WWE Crown Jewel 2024, the first ever men’s Crown Jewel Champion was crowned when Cody Rhodes captured the win in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
The competitive match saw the two top champions of the company go to battle for the WWE Crown Jewel Championship with Cody Rhodes facing off against GUNTHER.
In the end, Cody went for a Super Cody Cutter but was caught into a Sleeper hold from GUNTHER – however, Rhodes was able to shift his weight and pin GUNTHER to win.
After the match, GUNTHER shook Cody Rhodes’ hand as a show of respect.
Triple H then joined Rhodes in the ring to present him with the ceremonial Crown Jewel title belt.
As confirmed by Michael Cole on commentary, the actual large belts won by Liv Morgan and Cody Rhodes today will remain in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia at the WWE Experience.
Rhodes and Morgan will instead receive ceremonial rings to celebrate the achievement, described by Cole as being ‘like Super Bowl rings’.
Elsewhere during tonight’s event, Liv Morgan defeated Nia Jax to become the inaugural WWE Women’s Crown Jewel Champion.
Also one scheduled match ended up not officially starting after the two opponents began brawling before the bell until they were both taken out.
