WWE Cruiserweight Championship Number One Contender’s Match Announced

205 Live celebrated their 100th episode last night and saw it off with a bang. In the main event, Mustafa Ali took on longtime rival Hideo Itami in a chaotic and jawdropping falls count anywhere match. After some of the best in-ring work the brand has seen in some time (which is saying a lot as of late), Ali landed a 450 splash onto his opponent through a table on the outside, scoring the pin.

Elsewhere on the brand, Tony Nese has been racking up wins over former WWE Cruiserweight Champion Cedric Alexander. His first came in singles competition just days after Ceddy’s title loss at Super Show-Down. The ‘Premiere Athlete’ managed to land a second pin over the former champ in last week’s outstanding fatal five-way.

Due to their fantastic efforts, and new WWE Cruiserweight Champion Buddy Murphy yet to face his first challenger, 205 Live General Manager Drake Maverick made a number one contender’s match for the title next week between Ali and Nese as last night’s show drew to a close.

This is a very intriguing matchup as Ali and Murphy have had numerous bouts this year, all of which went above and beyond. Nese, however, is often seen by the new champ’s side, widely known as the Aussie’s training partner.

Will we see another epic battle between Murphy and Ali? Or will Nese have to attempt to step over his friend for a seat atop the purple mountain that is 205 Live? We’ll find out next week. All we can be sure of at the moment is that both the number one contender’s match and the following title bout will make waves throughout the wrestling world.

Who do you want to see face Buddy Murphy for the title on 205 Live? Let us know in the comments.
