For about a month, rumors have been circulating about the introduction of Cruiserweight Tag Team Championships into WWE, and it’s looking more and more likely that those rumors are about to become reality.
Earlier this month, as reported on by our own Josh Howey here, a Twitter user by the name of BeltFanDan tweeted the following, claiming that the pictured design had been confirmed by “legit sources”, and that WWE Cruiserweight Tag Team Championships were to be introduced to the 205 Live fold.

Skip forward 20 days, and ProWrestlingSheet.com have provided an update regarding the design.
According to them, and their source TMZ.com, WWE recently filed legal documents in an effort to temporarily restrain ‘bootleggers’ in New Orleans from selling merchandise on the weekend of WrestleMania 34, but among the trademarks they submitted, was the following image:
Not only does this seemingly confirm the introduction, or at least, the proposal of WWE Cruiserweight Tag Team Championships, but also proves the initial design tweeted out earlier in the month by BeltFanDan to be correct.
Further evidence to suggest that WWE Cruiserweight Tag Team Championships are soon to be introduced to 205 Live, is that in recent weeks we have seen the collaboration of a couple of new tag teams, including the alliance of Kalisto, Lince Dorado, and Gran Metalik as the Lucha House Party, and also the Japanese duo of Akira Tozawa and Hideo Itami.
Add to those two teams the likes of The Brian Kendrick and Gentleman Jack Gallagher, and potentially the team of Tony Nese and Ariya Daivari, who often team together on WWE Main Event, and that’s a decent starting point in building a cruiserweight tag team division.
What do you think about the idea of introducing Cruiserweight Tag Team Championships to 205 Live? What do you think of the apparent design? Let us know in the comments below or on Twitter here, and as always, have a spiffing Rusev Day.
