The original pitch for a popular WWE faction have been revealed, including the members who didn’t make the final cut.
Damage CTRL formed in July 2022 at WWE SummerSlam, with Bayley being joined by Dakota Kai and IYO SKY.
Kai had returned from being released in April 2022, while SKY from an injury suffered in June of that year.
During a recent appearance on Insight with Chris Van Vliet, Bayley has opened up about her original plans for Damage CTRL.
Revealing that Toni Storm, Raquel Rodriguez and Alba Fyre were also considered for the faction, Bayley said:
“I had a whole (plan), there’s five of us, my pitch for Damage CTRL.
“I also had Raquel in it. I also had Alba Fyre in it. I had so many other girls in mind, too. I had Toni Storm. I wanted Toni Storm in it. But when I actually sat at the PC and shot stuff, it was with Raquel and Alba, and all five of us.
“I had reasons why I wanted them. Raquel was obviously our muscle, but she was teaming with Dakota at the time, I believe. So they worked out perfectly.
“Alba and IYO, I think were teaming a little bit there, so they worked out perfectly.
“But in my mind, it was there’s two tag teams, and then IYO was my champion; she was going to be the champion.”
Bayley’s vision was to do everything in wrestling, whether it be in the ring or in storylines, explaining:
“I just want to do everything in wrestling. That’s how I always thought. I want to be a bad guy. I want to be a good guy. I want to be in a faction. I want to be in a tag team. I want to be a singles wrestler.
“I want to be in a romantic love angle someday. I want to be able to do everything, because there’s so many different things that we could do in this crazy world, to not try different avenues and work with as many people as possible. I just want to do it.”
Damage CTRL would lose Bayley in February 2024, following the addition of Kairi Sane and Asuka in November of the previous year.
Toni Storm departed WWE in December 2021 after requesting her release, revealing that towards the end of her time in the company, she was left unhappy in wrestling.
She would go on to sign with AEW in March 2022 and is the current Women’s World Champion with a record-setting four reigns.
Alba Fyre is currently a member of The Green Regime alongside Piper Niven, led by Chelsea Green, with both Scottish stars being referred to as The Secret Hervice.
