A recently departed WWE star noted that one of the reasons he elected not to re-sign was that the ‘new management just wasn’t for me’.
WWE has gone through waves of backstage power structure shifts over the past several years, however one recently departed star points to ‘new management’ as one reason he elected to not re-sign.
Recently, MVP has debuted in AEW along with fellow WWE alum Shelton Benjamin and Bobby Lashley.
Speaking about the reason he left WWE, MVP said:
“This time, I didn’t want to re-sign and I let it be known that I wasn’t going to re-sign because the new management in place — anytime, I don’t care where you work, when new management comes in, it’s good for some people and not for other people.
“New people come in, old people go. So I just felt that it was definitely time to go because the new management just wasn’t for me and I ain’t for him (laughs).”
Since departing WWE, MVP has gone on to make big moves in AEW – recently reuniting the Hurt Syndicate stable along with Bobby Lashley and Shelton Benjamin.
While the group has approached several other stars seemingly offering the chance to join them, Swerve Strickland declined and opted to remain with his current manager, Prince Nana.
The ensuing rivalry will lead to Bobby Lashley taking on Swerve Strickland in Lashley’s AEW debut at Full Gear on November 23.
