WWE star Dominik Mysterio has revealed concerns over his hair following a spot in AAA that saw him busted open last month.

At AAA Rey de Reyes on March 14, Dominik Mysterio defended his AAA Mega Championship against Hijo del Vikingo.

During what would be a successful championship defense, Mysterio took a shot to the head with a chair wielded by Vikingo, resulting in a nasty gash that needed gluing back together.

Mysterio commented on that moment and its aftermath in a recent appearance on Burn Factory, revealing concerns that the glue in his hair was a concern, as was potentially getting his head shaved, saying:

“For those of you who don’t know, I took a chair shot to the head, and I didn’t put my hands up, unprotected, and it sliced me across the head.

“At the time, I was thinking, because we’re in Mexico, in Puebla, and I was like, ‘ For whatever reason (if) they want shave my head, no staples, no stitches, just glue me.’

“I was like, ‘Worst case scenario, you guys gotta shave around it or something, don’t touch it. Don’t touch the hair.’

“So, what they did was they glued it together. They glued it with like medical glue, and closed it, but the issue was that we were filming three shows that day, this happened on the first show.

“I did the first show, cleaned me up, they glued it. Went back out and did something for the second show, it re-opened, so they put a second layer of glue on it. So, now I just have a s**t ton of glue stuck in my hair.

“It’s all healed up, the scar and stuff, but it’s just like the glue has out-grown from my hair. So, now I’ve got to figure out how to get this f**king glue out of my hair.”

Dominik Mysterio faces Finn Balor, in his rarely seen The Demon persona, at WrestleMania 42 on April 19 at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.

The Unprotected Chair Shot Falls Out Of Favor

It’s been a long time since an unprotected chair shot to the head was seen in WWE, although there was a period where they were more common across the wrestling landscape, garnering the intended reaction from the fans who witnessed it firsthand.

Outside of WWE, Jack Perry took the move during the Blood & Guts match on AEW Dynamite in 2024, which drew criticism from fans and performers alike at the time. Among the critics was Corey Graves, who noted that his own career “ended from a few too many ACCIDENTAL headshots” in a post on Twitter that he would subsequently delete.

As the road to WrestleMania has shown once again, accidents happen, with some stars sidelined as a result. Thankfully, compared to previous generations, WWE has an emphasis on quality care for its active roster, something that can’t be overlooked in such a physical form of entertainment.
