WWE’s Drew McIntyre Makes Surprise Return To Independent Promotion

WWE’s Drew McIntyre Makes Surprise Return To Independent Promotion WWE/ICW

Drew McIntyre made an appearance for Scottish promotion Insane Championship Wrestling ahead of his big match at WWE Clash at the Castle.

With Clash at the Castle emanating from Glasgow, Scotland, Drew McIntyre has taken trips down memory lane during his visit to his home country.

McIntyre notably appeared at Friday’s ICW After Hours event, making his entrance to a huge pop from the crowd.

The Scottish Warrior entered the ring to “welcome home” chants, before confronting ICW World Champion Jack Jester.

After squaring off as if they were going to fight, McIntyre and Jester embraced in the middle of the ring. You can watch a clip of this moment below.

McIntyre took to Twitter to share his own video from the event, which included a clip of him addressing the fans.

McIntyre captioned his video:

Long time no see, @InsaneChampWres

After initially competing for ICW in 2006 and 2007, McIntyre returned to the promotion following his WWE departure in 2014, where he had a more significant run, notably winning the ICW World Championship on two separate occasions.

His last match for ICW saw him defeat Jack Jester in a Barbed Wire No Ropes match at the April 2017 BarraMania 3 event, ahead of his WWE return.

At Clash at the Castle, Drew McIntyre will challenge for Damian Priest’s WWE World Heavyweight Championship.

McIntyre revealed that his wife is having emergency surgery ahead of his title match, which you can read more about right here.
