WWE Drops “No Wrestling In Commercial Breaks” Rule

WWE Drops “No Wrestling In Commercial Breaks” Rule

Well that didn’t last very long now, did it? Just weeks after Vince McMahon decided there would be no more wrestling on WWE Raw or SmackDown during commercial breaks, there is once again wrestling in commercial breaks.

Vince’s bright idea led to matches being randomly restarted and shows being saturated by 2-out-of-3-falls matches, and wasn’t exactly winning fans over.

Mercifully, this week there was plenty of wrestling during commercial breaks and the shows felt much better for it. Yes, it can be a bit boring for fans at the show live to watch rest holds for a few minutes but for the vast majority of people not at the arena, it makes for much better television.

Just as an example, the gauntlet match for the United States Championship number one contender had the odd ad break, but they were well positioned to give the match an illusion of flowing smoothly despite the adverts.

Hopefully this is the trend going forwards in WWE as it really helped make this week’s Raw one of the best in recent memory.
