A recently introduced character has undergone a presentation change due to complaints from a section of WWE fans.
Introduced on the March 24 episode of WWE Raw, El Grande Americano was originally billed as hailing from the Gulf of America.
Recently, however, the WWE star’s hometown has been amended to the Gulf of Mexico.
According to Dave Meltzer, the change was due to complaints from fans in Mexico.
Writing in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer states that El Grande Americano has recently been billed from the Gulf of Mexico instead of the Gulf of America.
This change was noted at the Sacramento taping of his WWE Speed tournament match with Erik of The War Raiders.
Triple H has recently shared his thoughts on fans “bitching & f**king complaining” on the internet.
He noted that online complaining on the internet is “not real life” while reflecting on the live reaction that stars receive at WWE shows.
El Grande Americano’s WWE Speed opponent is familiar with changes being made to his character too, with the War Raiders previously renamed The Viking Raiders (and, before that, The Viking Experience) before returning to their NXT name in October 2024.
The War Raiders defend the WWE World Tag Team Championship against The New Day (Kofi Kingston & Xavier Woods) at WrestleMania 41 on April 19.
