A current WWE champion has set a new record in their first reign, having held the title for over 260 days to date.
Ethan Page has held the NXT North American Championship since the May 27 episode of the eponymous Tuesday night WWE show.
With his most recent victory against Shiloh Hill, Page has set a record for the most successful NXT North American Championship defense.
Page previously provided stats on his run in NXT ahead of his match last night, noting he had held the North American Championship for “265 days and counting”.
He would go on to say that last night’s match was his twelfth championship defense, and had defended the titles more times than any previous holder.
The official WWE NXT Twitter account has now confirmed that Page has, indeed, set a new record for the most successful North American Champion defenses.
In addition to his successful defense against Hill on February 12, Page has had televised NXT singles match victories over Elio LeFleur, Moose, Mr Iguana, El Hijo de Dr. Wagner Jr, Mustafa Ali, Tavion Heights, Tyler Breeze, Santino Marella, Ricky Saints, and Sean Legacy.
He would also successfully defend the title in multi-man action at Worlds Collide in June, retaining against Je’Von Evans, Laredo Kid & Rey Fenix.
Beyond televised matches, Page has regularly defended the North American Championship at NXT Live house shows.
With his reign currently at 266 days, according to the official WWE site, Ethan Page is fast approaching Oba Femi, who held the NXT North American Championship for a record-setting 272 days.
