WWE NXT Championship Ethan Page has reflected on his decision to leave AEW in May 2024 and the opportunities he has had so far.
On July 7, 2024, Page was in a Fatal Four-way match for the NXT Championship alongside then-champion Trick Williams, Je’Von Evans and Shawn Spears.
As can be seen in the highlights below this news story, it would be Page who would be victorious after Williams hit a Trick Shot on him leading to the pinfall victory over Evans.
Page recently appeared on the Insight with Chris Van Vliet podcast and discussed his decision to leave AEW to join WWE, saying it was:
“Validating? I think that’s the perfect word, validating.
“Imagine your whole life you have this vision of what your potential could be, and no one around you sees the same vision as you.
“Then magically, the greatest wrestler of all time just has the same vision as you and says, ‘I’ll let you do that.’
“And here I am, doing it. Yeah, the boyhood dream.”
WWE Senior Vice President of Talent Development Creative Shawn Michaels has previously shared his thoughts on Page and what he saw in him before signed a contract.
Going on to discuss the end of his time in AEW, Page reflected on this, stating:
“It was time. Yeah, it was time. And I wasn’t getting what I magically got here, which was the opportunity to show what I bring to the table.”
In his comments on Page, Michaels had mused about whether he had “been given the opportunity” to show his potential.
Page signed with WWE in May 2024 having left AEW earlier that year, later describing the “chaotic and unorganized” place it was.
