WWE Expected To Announce UK Performance Centre This Weekend

WWE is expected to announce the opening of it’s second Performance Centre during the NXT UK tapings in Liverpool this coming weekend.

The UK-based centre has been in the works for some time, with the entire NXT UK roster recently attending a week-long camp at the proposed facility in London.

Johnny Moss, Johnny Kidd, Robbie Brookside, Marty Jones and others are expected to serve as coaches at the centre on a permanent or semi-regular basis.

The launch of the UK PC is the first piece of a much larger puzzle, with WWE “working very hard” to establish similar facilities in Germany, Saudi Arabia, Australia, Japan, South America and others.

Each of these territories is also expected to have its own national NXT brand. In essence, WWE, or rather Triple H and NXT, are attempting to bring back the NWA territory days under one umbrella.

The method behind this strategy is to get talent under contract and into the system before they can make names for themselves anywhere else, ensuring that indy promotions and rival groups are left with a significantly reduced talent pool to choose from.

Talent under contract to these various national brands are expected to move between the nations. The idea of the main NXT title holders becoming touring champions, visiting the regional territories to defend their belts, has also been discussed as a likely next step.

In addition to the PC announcement, there is talk doing the rounds that NXT UK will announce its first TakeOver special at the tapings. Rumours suggest that the event will take place in Liverpool at the Echo Arena but that has not yet been confirmed.
