Next up was the SmackDown Women’s Championship match where James Ellsworth was suspended above the ring in a shark cage. Ellsworth was the star of this match. He managed to pick the lock to escape the cage but the tassels on his boots got caught and he ended up hanging upside down above the ring. Asuka attacked the helpless Ellsworth with relish but then officials climbed into the ring to help The Big Hog, so The Empress of Tomorrow attacked them too! Carmella capitalised to shove Asuka head-first into the shark cage and pinned her to retain the title. That was a creative finish.
Footage was shown of the Kick Off Show match where SANitY defeated The New Day in a tables match after Eric Young elbow dropped Kofi Kingston through a ringside table. PS, Andrade ‘Cien’ Almas earlier pinned Sin Cara in another dark match.
Shinsuke Nakamura pinned Jeff Hardy in five seconds to win the United States Championship. The King of Strong Style low blowed Hardy before the bout when the referee’s back was turned. Wrestling REALLY needs VAR. The foolishly brave Hardy said he was OK to start the bout, the bell rang, and Nakamura raced across the ring to deliver a Kinshasa to knock Jeff down for the three count. Bad night for the Hardy brothers. As Nakamura celebrated, Randy Orton made his return from injury. Randy ambled down to the ring and locked eyes with the new champion. Then he tripped the limping Jeff and stomped him right in the gonads. Heel turn! Orton then ambled off again. Shin looked shocked.
