Following on from a strong Raw rating, WWE was given another pre-WrestleMania boost when the numbers for SmackDown dropped. The show pulled an average of 2.771 million viewers, its highest number since the Superstar Shakeup episode in April last year.
The strong number can be attributed to three things: 1) The fallout from Fastlane two nights earlier. 2) The promise of Shane McMahon’s “major announcement” that was teased throughout the night. 3) Daylight savings.
With the turgid built to the inconveniently-placed Fastlane now out of the way, WWE can concentrate fully on the Road to WrestleMania, meaning the number is likely to stay at around the same level for at least another month.
