WWE Files For Major Stable Trademark

WWE Files For Major Stable Trademark

With Day One of the WWE United Kingdom Championship Tournament now on the WWE Network, Tyler Bate, Trent Seven & Pete Dunne have finally joined forces for a match within the company. The group took on the Undisputed Era for pride in what was arguably the match of the night.

Up until now, the three Brits have mainly been presented as singles stars in WWE despite being a dominant and widely recognized team within the UK wrestling scene. This may be the start of a new beginning, however, as WWE has made an interesting move with the trio in mind.

According to PWInsider.comWWE filed to trademark “British Strong Style” on June 18 of this year. In their notes for the request, the company stated the term was for:

“Entertainment services, namely, wrestling exhibitions and performances by a professional wrestler and entertainer rendered live and through broadcast media including television and radio, and via the internet or commercial online service; providing wrestling news and information via a global computer network; providing information in the fields of sports and entertainment via an online community portal; providing a website in the field of sports entertainment information; fan club services, namely, organizing and staging events with wrestling fan club members; providing online newsletters in the fields of sports entertainment; online journals, namely, blogs, in the fields of sports entertainment.”

British Strong Style is the name of the group consisting of Dunne, Bate & Seven which began in PROGRESS in the UK. During their initial year as a trio in the company, BSS (as it is abbreviated) held the British company’s World (Dunne) and Tag Team Championships (Bate & Seven).

The stable has not been restricted to PROGRESS, however, appearing in other promotions such as OTT Wrestling and Chikara, even winning the latter’s King of Trios tournament in 2017. Now, it seems that the group has found a final home together in WWE.

With the introduction of NXT UK, it will be interesting to see how, or even if, the faction will take over there. Dunne is already the WWE United Kingdom Champion and with UK Tag Team Championships set to be introduced, will we see a repeat of PROGRESS take place?
