WWE/AEW
WWE has filed to trademark the former ring name of a current AEW star with the United States Patent & Trademark Office (USPTO).
In an application that was made on Friday, August 15, WWE has filed to trademark ‘Scott Dawson’ – the former ring name of current AEW star Dax Harwood.
Filed under the category of Goods and Services, the description reads:
Entertainment services, namely, wrestling exhibitions and performances by a professional wrestler and entertainer rendered and through broadcast media including television and radio, and via the internet or commercial online service; providing wrestling news and information via a global computer network; providing information in the fields of sports and entertainment via an online community portal; providing a website in the field of sports entertainment information; fan club services, namely, organizing sporting events in the field of wrestling for wrestling fan club members; organizing social entertainment events for entertainment purposes for wrestling fan club members; providing online newsletters in the fields of sports entertainment; online journals, namely blogs, in the field of sports entertainment
On the same day, WWE also filed a USPTO trademark application for Harwood’s former AEW stablemate and current NXT roster member ‘Shawn Spears’.
Like the filing for ‘Scott Dawson’, Spears’ was made under the Goods and Services category.
Dax Harwood competed in WWE as Scott Dawson between 2012 and 2020 before signing with AEW alongside FTR tag team partner Cash Wheeler.
Harwood and Wheeler, who was previously known as Dash Wilder in WWE, won five Tag Team Championships during their time in WWE across Raw, SmackDown and NXT.
This follows WWE curiously trademarking another former WWE star – ‘Slapjack’ (aka Shane Thorne), on August 14 – with full details available here.
